Wild Thing

Kelly reached out to me months ago asking if a session based on the book Where the Wild Things Are is something I would be willing to do. It didn't take me more than a millisecond to say yes! This sounded like so much fun and I knew we could just run with it! She already had a costume for Orson, so I took on the responsibility of the boat. Well, sort of! I passed that responsibility on to my husband :-) and he did an awesome job with it! He took his job very seriously and made trips to the craft and hardware stores to get all his supplies.

We ended up with the most gorgeous weather the night of the session, though it was very hot. Orson was a trooper in his costume and we captured some beautiful shots that I believe will stay with this family for many generations! Happy first birthday Orson!

Here's a little Q&A with Kelly -
Tell me an interesting or unique fact about each of your children.

Orson has a cousin born just 2 days before him by my twin sister! It wasn't planned!

Have we done a session together before? If so, why did you decide to book another?

Yes, the Captain America photo shoot. I had booked the Child's Session photo shoot before the Captain America shoot though.

Did you bring a sentimental item to our shoot? If so, what was it and please share why it's such a special item for you.

The Where the Wild Things Are book. I grew up reading it and Orson loves it too!

What was your favorite part about our session together? How did you prepare your child for our photo shoot?

The prop - the boat! It was beyond adorable! I had purchased Orson a costume to fit the theme of the photo shoot.

How was your experience having your child photographed? Were you nervous or worried before? How did it turn out?

Excellent experience! I was worried Orson would cry during the photo shoot, because it was during his nap time, but he did great!

What is your best advice to other moms regarding this age?

I am obsessed with these wild thing photos! GAH!

Oh how cute! My boy and I used to read this book all the time. I wish I had done a session like this when he was younger.
Wow, love the idea of following a children's book as the theme. :) Cute baby too!
A Where the Wild Things Are session is on my bucket list! You did great. What a cute little man.
What a cutie ! Love the costume and the boat, looks like fun! :)
