A Very Special Session

This session was very special to me for one big reason - Lynette is my first niece! And she is as cute as can be! When we got the news last Christmas that my brother and sister-in-law were expecting, my wheels started turning right away! As soon as we found out she was a girl, the prop buying couldn't be contained :-)

Lynette was a tough customer. Maybe because she wanted to challenge me, but funny thing was, I have never had more patience in my life. This little cutie was my niece and I was not about to let her win in the battle of newborn pictures, haha! I would say to her throughout her session, "Now we are doing this for you, you know?" and "You're going to thank us for this someday!" In the end, she gave us a good stretch of sleep and cooperation and we got lots of sweet shots of her and her amazing hair!

I asked Brittany a few questions just like I do all my other mamas. Here's what she had to say.

What is your baby's name? Birthday? Birth Weight? Birth Height?

Lynette Grace - August 3, 2015 - 7 lb 4 oz - 19.5 inches long

What's the first thing that ran through your mind when you both found out you were pregnant?

Absolute excitement and joy! We had been trying for several months and finding out we were finally pregnant was one of the best feelings I have ever experienced.

Please comment here with some small details of your birthing process. When did you go into labor? Time of Birth? Who all was at the hospital?

Lynette decided she was more comfortable inside than outside so at 8 days past my due date I was induced. After a LONG two day process of induction with my husband by my side, Lynette arrived at 1:19am on my birthday. She was the best birthday gift I have ever received.

What was the first thing you thought when you saw your baby for the first time?

That she was the most beautiful thing I have ever seen! And that she looked just like my husband :)

What was your favorite part about our session together?

My favorite part by far was how relaxed Angie made me feel. Lynette was far from easy to photograph but she did an amazing job allowing me to relax and managed to get some incredible pictures.

What would be your advice to someone getting newborn photographs taken?

Don't stress over things you can't control! If your precious one doesn't exactly want to cooperate, don't worry about it. Angie will find a way to make it work and you will be thrilled you made the effort to get some amazing pictures. In addition, definitely jump in some pictures yourself! Finally, my favorite photos from the session are of all three of us together. It's worth doing your hair and throwing on some make-up to capture you with your newborn - you won't have these moments back again!
