And then there were three

Alyssa contacted me last fall about a maternity and newborn package. I was hesitant because her due date was toward the end of my maternity leave, but I am so glad we made it work! Alyssa and Nathan were so fun to work with for their maternity shoot! You can tell by the way they interact they have so much love for each other and this little girl is now their whole world. Norah was the perfect dream baby in the studio! She slept through her whole session and allowed me to put her in so many different set ups. We ended up with a beautiful variety of photos capturing this super sweet time. Alyssa took the time to answer a few questions for me as well. Here's what she had to say:

What is your baby's name? Birthday? Birth Weight? Birth Height?

Norah Grace, February 15th, 7lbs 10oz, and 20 inches long

What's the first thing that ran through your mind when you both found out you were pregnant?

We found out we were pregnant the morning of the dance recital for the studio that I teach at. So in the midst of chaos and preparing for the long night ahead of us, we were just filled with pure excitement, joy, and very surprised!

Please comment here with some small details of your birthing process. When did you go into labor? Time of Birth? Who all was at the hospital?

The delivery process was one that started out very slow! Late Sunday evening I started leaking but wasn't feeling contractions or anything. The following day I had a weekly appointment at 9am and the Dr ran all the normal tests and as soon as everything came out positive I was admitted to the hospital by 10am where they started the induction process. Norah Grace was then born at 7:49pm that evening. Both Nathan and I were joined in the hospital room after her birth by both sets of parents and my grandma. All were anxiously waiting the process for Norah to arrive and were in awe when they first got to meet her.

What was the first thing you thought when you saw your baby for the first time?

I was just filled will such joy and immediately head over heels in love with this baby girl as soon as I saw her. After a couple of minutes I then couldn't believe how perfect she was as I counted all ten fingers and toes.

What would be your advice to someone getting newborn photographs taken? What kinds of things did you worry about before and during the session?

If I could give any advice to parents who are new to this experience it would be to not be nervous! Angie told me that she's experienced many different situations with newborns and just goes with the flow! I know that I was nervous of the little things that could go wrong; a messy diaper to Norah being fussy and uncooperative. But in the end there was nothing to worry about!
