Remember that awesome group of friends I mentioned before? The ones who all had their second babies about the same time we had Sawyer. Well here is another one of those lovely ladies! We squeezed in Holly's maternity pictures just in time because Samuel decided to come about five weeks early! He was 5 pounds, 13 ounces and 18 inches long! He had to spend some time in the NICU, but came home in perfect health and is now doing great! Here's a little Q&A with Holly and some of our favorites from Samuel's session. Enjoy!
Shock and excitement. It took us years to have our first child and only took a couple of months to get pregnant with our second.
That he's perfect and beautiful. And I remember saying out loud, "thank you Lord!" for a healthy baby boy.
The photos turned out great! I was a little nervous that my Sam wouldn't cooperate, but of course Angie made it look easy to calm and pose a newborn. I loved that Angie personalized his photo shoot with a stuffed rocket prop to be included in his pictures. It really made them unique to us, and I appreciated Angie's thoughtfulness. Angie was patient and asked if there were any specific poses we would like for Sam and that she would do her best to make it happen. I prepared Sam for the photo shoot by feeding him before and during the shoot so he stayed sleepy and calm.
I mostly worried Sam would cry and make things difficult. My advice would be to not be afraid to communicate what you would like from your newborn session (color scheme, props, outfits etc).
I have a 21 month old daughter, Sydney. She calls her brother Sam, "B" because she can't say baby yet. She likes to pat him gently and says "aww" and tries to mimic me and I "baby talk" to Sam.
