Sweet little Paxton was in the studio back in May for his newborn session. He was teeny tiny and so very perfect! Born May 9 he weighed just 5 lbs 2 oz. He was only two days early, but a very healthy little boy! His mama, Amy, had quite the experience with his birth. She shared her story with me and having gone through two labors now, I can't imagine the whirlwind this was for her.
"Paxton was born at 3:38 am - about 3 hours after I felt my first contraction at home...and we were still parked in the 5 minute parking zone!"
"My birthing process was a whirlwind! I began having contractions at home around 12:30 am. Since this was my first child, I wasn't positive that I was having contractions because I didn't know what they felt like! I timed the pain and when I realized it was happening every 5 minutes, I told my husband it was time to go to the hospital. We got to the hospital around 1:20 in the morning and I was placed into the triage room to get hooked up to the monitors and checked out to see if I would be formally admitted. When they initially came in, she said I was only at 2 cm, so she was going to go see if I would be admitted right now, or just sent home. She came back around 15 minutes later - and in that time my water had broken and I went from 2cm to 4! She said that obviously now I would be admitted and she wheeled me down the hallway to the delivery room. In my 100 yard trip down the hallway I went from 4cm - 7cm, and when I was all hooked up in the delivery room I was at 9cm and the doctor was telling me to get ready to push!! Paxton was born at 3:38 am - about 3 hours after I felt my first contraction at home...and we were still parked in the 5 minute parking zone!" -Amy
When I asked Amy about the first time she saw Paxton, she said she felt, "so blessed and amazed that that this perfect, precious boy was mine! (Also relieved that the labor part was over)"
Paxton is Michael and Amy's first child, or at least, first human child. They have a jack-russell terrier named Belle. She has become Paxton's protector and likes to sit under his crib while he naps as well as lick his toes to make him smile when he starts to fuss!
Here's a little Q&A I did with Amy regarding her newborn session:
